Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, quiet town. People who don't understand about the place mistakenly think that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually, the West Island includes everything westward of Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is commonly called her birthplace. It is true that she was there for a brief time. Brugel lived in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer but because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. Once I outgrew male partners at that point, I gave up. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a nudge from an instructor in drama at high school that encouraged her to go in that direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the school's annual production. She auditioned and ended up playing the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. This led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. Since then, she's appeared involved in more than 60 shows, smaller and large. Most notable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and was only seen at times.
